Why Slide EQ?

Quote 2.png

After working in the consulting industry for over ten years, Jerrina Eteen recognized the need for slide training while working with clients and boutique consulting companies. She found that even if consultants understood how to make fancy-looking charts and slides, they still struggled to get their messages across. When they tried to write storylines for their decks, they didn't think enough about their audience:

  • Who are you presenting to--a project lead or a senior project sponsor?

  • What are the key points they need to understand?

  • Do they have any style preferences, e.g. detail vs. big picture?

Jerrina could also see that anyone creating presentations as part of their day-to-day work would benefit from learning the same slide-writing fundamentals that she learned as a consultant. People would be able to get their points of view across in meetings more effectively. They could better facilitate decisions with clearly presented information. Charities could communicate their needs and ambitions to volunteers and investors with greater clarity and impact.

In 2018, she founded Slide EQ because she wanted to provide challenging, interactive training courses that would give participants the fundamentals of writing good slides and clear stories. The training emphasises that EQ is one of the most important elements of successful slide creation. Today, Jerrina delivers her customised courses on slide writing to consultancies and other organisations that use slides on a regular basis.
